Overview
In-House is a platform that aims to address inequality, unfair group dynamics, toxic culture, and corruption in all levels of an organization through digital anonymous infiltration by exposing issues that would otherwise be brushed under the rug. I worked with a small team to conduct usability studies, completely redesign the interface, create responsive versions of the product, and rebuild the design system specifications from the ground up for easy developer hand-off.

MINK
The key to In-House is its patented gate-keeping system, or MINK. Insiders must answer a security question created by other insiders in order to access their house & leave feedback. Comparable to upvoting comments on Reddit, a voting system determines which question is the most exclusive to insiders of an organization in order to provide the best security. Once a user has gained access to their house, they have the ability to rate issues, and then see how the rest of their house voted.
Research
Using A/B testing, Google Analytics, & written feedback from users during beta-testing, we identified which pages & features were causing the most user drop-off. Issues tended to involve an air of apprehensiveness; as a social advocacy platform that intends to expose issues that by their nature make people uncomfortable, it was crucial to give users a sense of control, & convey safety & trust. We experimented with dozens of variations in verbiage, imagery, and user-flow sequencing.
Anonymous community
Users can also make posts about various issues that are too nuanced or specific to be covered by the rate tags. Users are able to vote for or against posts they agree or disagree with, in a similar fashion to Reddit.
Additionally, the owner or manager of the company has the ability to sign up with a special verified Owners account, and assure employees that their voices have been heard. However, owners do not have the ability to delete content from their house. After all, the platform exists to expose problems so they can be addressed, not keep them hidden.
Design System
Working closely with the development team, I helped create a brand new design system in Figma to work in tandem with the UI refresh, that included cascading component structure, style guide, and rules for margins / spacing & responsive design.
